What a Treat!

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

My partner and I just completed a four night stay at the Hacienda, and I have to commend the staff and owners for the relaxing, quiet experince we both enjoyed! When we arrived, we were promply greeted at the gate and taken to the office, where we were told that because there was a last minute cancellation, we would be getting an “upgrade” to a suite. Talk about a pleasant surprise. The room was spacicous and immaculate. We enjoyed the use of a efficiency kitchen, dining table, and a terrific living room area. We were poolside, so that was a plus as well. The view from our room showcased a well manicured grounds area. A small area, but pristine just the same. The location of this resort is in the Warm Sands area, and is close to the areas most visitors want to be near, yet is nestled in a quiet area where you don’t hear the roar of cars and trucks racing down the road when you are seated outside or sunning poolside.

We also were pleasantly surpirsed at the fine quality of the lunches that were served to you either poolside or in your room. The food was comprised mainly of sandwiches, salads, or wraps, and were served with a side of potato salad or the like. It was just enough. The food was fresh and tasty. So that was another surpirse. We’ve stayed at other resorts that serve you a lunch like it was a school cafeteria with a menu that is the same.

The staff is friendly and helpful, and at the same time, respect the fact that you are there for a vacation and deserve to be treated with respect. They certainly illustrate that they value you as a guest and do everything they can to ensure you are satisfied.

One of the owners greeted us during lunch one day and found him to be very gracious and friendly. Again, we’ve been to resorts where the owners breeze past you and could care less if you are there or not. Sure wasn’t the case here.

This is not one of those cruisy resorts where other guests are cruising and peeking in your room, and that was a refreshing experience as well.

The only item worth mentioning is that their hot tub is somewhat small and a bit shallow. Still and all, it was clean and well maintained, so only a small “minus” for the Hacienda.

Book this resort for a future trip. We certainly intend to!

A Great Option for Seeing Palm Springs

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

A long time friend and I stayed there for four days in November. We are not partners and were looking for place that where we could relax and catch up on our friendship. The Hacienda turned out perfect for that.

The owners and staff create a relaxed, welcoming environment. The setting is pretty and the environment feel safe. They have the balance between friendliness and unobtrusiveness. That feeling seems to be shared by the other guests we met too. The breakfast and lunch were tasty with a nice selection of healthy choices. They patiently answered all our questions and gave good suggestions when asked. One recommendation was one of the best therapists I have experienced.

Personally, I am sensitive to reducing my impact on the environment as I travel. So the only improvement I would like to have at the Hacienda is in this area (changing linens only when needed, reducing air conditioning, and planting plants more appropriate for a desert environment.).

In short, this is a great option for guys that want a quiet, pretty place to relax and see the sights around Palm Springs.

We Found The Best Gay Resort in the US

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

My partner and I spent a weekend in Palm Springs last month and stayed at The Hacienda based on a recommendation from two of our very close friends. They told us The Hacienda was considered the best gay resort and the only place to stay when visiting Palm Springs. How right they were. We were first impressed by our welcome greeting when we checked in, the grounds are immaculately groomed and filled with lush vegetation, the views especially from their front pool (one of two large swimming pools) showcased Palm Trees and the impressive Palm Springs mountain range. Our large suite was in a word unbelievable. The suite had a massive fireplace, a separate large round glass dining table, living room with a jumbo flat screen TV plus our bedroom also had a flat screen TV and DVD player. The bathroom, which we understand was completely remodeled last year, was exceptional – fitted with horizontal water jet sprays and two large shower heads. The meals provided as part of our rate included an extensive continental breakfast (hard boiled eggs, cheeses, ham, fruit, various breads, etc.) and a memorable lunch – one day we each had salads and for our second day we each tried one of their specialty sandwiches which were served on china plates, on the umbrella table next to the pool. Beyond all of this, the staff not only answered our many questions about Palm Springs, and what to do, but also gave us several choices each night for restaurants and bars. We are already planning a return trip to Palm Springs next March primarily because of the wonderful time we had at the Hacienda. Trust us…this one is a real find.

The Hacienda ROCKS

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

My partner and I stayed at the Hacienda for 2 nights and wished we could stay there forever. We were pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to assist us since we arrived after they closed. The grounds are very nice and the suites are better than a 5 star hotel. The bed and other furnishings are really nice. The two man shower was a real treat too. They have the softest towels and the welcome basket was a real treat. The place is very quiet just the way we wanted it to be. We were able to do our thing without being bothered. They offer a great breakfast and lunch is available although we missed it. The pool and hot tub are very nice. We can’t wait to return to our place in paradise.

Dear Jim and Maurice,

First of all, we wanted to send out Congratulations on your committed love and marriage to each other. We are so happy for you both and wish All the Best together!

We also wanted to write a thank you note for the wonderful stay we had at the Hacienda! It was such a nice way to pass my Birthday and we thank all of you for the special attention you always seem to give to us!

Your boys at the Hotel are just the best, best service, best housekeeping, always there for us and so nice to talk to and see everyday! Your fine details that makes your guest feel special, from the personalized welcome, to the name pillows on the bed…which is our first experience and it was so meaningful! I would say you always maintain the three “Cs” towards your guests….”care, commitment and kindness”…..(never good at spelling)….they are so well appreciated!!

Special thanks to the two Steves….I know you changed their names to clarify who is who, but Marshall called them the wrong name even with it written in their shirts…Marshall is just so funny!…(You know the English…its a good thing we celebrated our independence yesterday!…LOL. However, I couldn’t live without my Marshall!). Anyway, back to the boys…both guys did such a wonderful job and worked so hard! Hats off to them!

With our busy international schedules…we are already discussing when we can come back…The Hacienda is our paradise relaxing vacation from the world!

All the Best to the whole team!

A Quality Resort

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

We stayed at the Hacienda for three nights in July this year. This was our first time in Palm Springs and whilst it was low season we would return again at the same time of year.

The accommodation was clean, well furnished and spacious. A welcome pack of essentials was provided on arrival which was welcome. The staff were extremely helpful and advised on local restaurants, bars and nightlife etc

The pools were warm and clean and pool towels were plentiful. Breakfast was provided each morning and of a good standard. Lunch is ordered the day before and delivered to your room or poolside seat. This was fine but could be improved upon. If you were staying more than a couple of nights you would easily bore of the menu.

All in all an enjoyable break, good facilities and somewhere we would like to visit again. Recommended to all discerning travellers.

Great resort

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

My partner and I spent a weekend at the Hacienda in June – our first stay at a gay resort and our first time in Palm Springs – and we loved it. Great facilities (pools, rooms, etc.) – very clean, outstanding service, excellent breakfast and lunch, plus margaritas by the pool one of the afternoons with the owners! The owners are great guys – very welcoming and friendly. The staff is at your service for anything you need. I highly recommend a stay here.

Surprise of the year

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

We had decided to extend our stay in PS or a few days and as the Parker was sold out, I called The Hacienda, having heard of it through friends but never stayed there. They had one suite left, which we gladly accepted. We got there and were so impressed with the facility, the accommodations, and the friendly staff in particular. Out suite had just been remodeled and had a large bathroom with a double shower, huge living and dining area, and was spotless. There were 2 pools, and even though they were full, we never felt crowded. And the best surprise was that it was about half the price of the other hotel!
Definitely worth a visit.

THE place to stay in Palm Springs

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

We have stayed at several other resorts–they do not compare. Attention to detail, personal service, clean and beautiful rooms with above average amenities, breakfast and lunch are standard here. We felt pampered from the moment we arrived and we will be back.

One of the best resorts we’ve stayed at, gay or straight!”

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

My partner surprised me with a trip to Palm Springs and a stay at this incredible resort. Wow. I was so pleasantly surprised. First, we were greeted so warmly. The entire staffed assembled to welcome us, give us tips, and show us our room. We had one of the front suites by the main pool, just perfect, with a view to the mountains in the distance. Our kitchen had almost everything we could need, and was very elegant. Black granite counter with stylish cabinetry and decor all around. A huge LCD TV in our living room and a slightly smaller LCD TV in the bedroom, and plenty of current release and other great DVD selections to rent from the main office, free of charge.

The staff was excellent. They were especially helpful in helping us plan our trips to Joshua Tree, the Aerial Tramway, and my horseback riding trip through Indian Canyon. They would eagerly print us out details of each excursion, along with mapquest directions. One staff member even offered to have my lunch come early so I could pack it for my horseback riding trip at Smoketree Ranch, since I was leaving before Lunch would be delivered to the resort. I didn’t even have to ask. Just amazing service. And I highly recommend the horseback riding trip as well. You have to do the 2 hour trip to Indian Canyon, through the Palm Oasis…nothing quite like it. The best way to see the desert!

The Jacuzzi was very nice, but you have to know how to turn it on. At first we thought the jets didn’t work, but later we realized that dial was somewhat hidden by the control shed, otherwise just 2 jets run, and gave the impression that the other 4 jets were broken. We were too shy to ask, or complain, and the next day of our stay, one of the staff members noticed we didn’t turn on the jets..and ran over to fix it for us. We were laughing..and felt silly, because we were just saying how this place would be perfect if only the Jacuzzi jets worked…and then quickly realized that were silly for not asking. We were even more impressed by an already attentive staff.

They have free self-laundry service with degerent and all, and 24 hour spring water. Breakfast buffet is also very nice with plenty of healthy choices. There is no fitness facility on the grounds, but with all the great hiking around, it’s barely missed. They also arrange on site massage.

On Saturday, the owners came by and we had a frozen Margarita party, compliments of the resort. We got to meet other guests at the hotel and had a great time.

There was a nice variety of guests during our stay, both in terms of age, cultures, personalities, and locations. We are both in our early 30’s, and felt that this was the perfect place for a very relaxing, romantic getaway. It’s one of the few times we actually managed to relax on a vacation. Isn’t that the best reason to have a vacation anyway?
