Our Sweet Spot

May 6th, 2016

This was our eighteenth stay since 2001 and after all these years and visits, we never get tired of this place, and when we are forced to leave we are already thinking about when we can get back.

There are a few things that make this place special. First: The setting is beautiful with attractive grounds and stunning views of the mountain. The owners recently enhanced the landscaping and added outdoor lighting, and a gas fireplace next to the hot tub. So now even at night you will want to be outside enjoying the lovely ambiance that has been created. Even though the hotel only has ten rooms, there are two pools with different settings so you have options each day.

Second: When you do need to be inside, your spacious and comfortable suite will meet all your needs. Most have more than enough space, and many include extra amenities such as: a fireplace, kitchen, dining area, private patio, two televisions, and a nice bathroom. We always feel like we are in our own little private getaway home and not at a hotel.

Third: The staff is outstanding and gives you just the right amount of attention. Many of them have been with the hotel for a long period of time which says a lot about how well this property is run. They enjoy working at the hotel and take pride in what they have created and are always making sure everyone has what they need and that the property always looks great.

Fourth: You almost never have to leave. A nice light breakfast is available each morning and a broad selection of hearty choices provided for lunch. Both included in your room rate. You can dine in your room or alfresco around one of the pools. So if you just want to relax and barely leave paradise, you are set.

Fifth: Even if the hotel is full, there is still enough space for everyone to have their little quiet spot. In general the guests tend to be mid-thirties and older, and most are interested in enjoying their well-deserved down time.

The Hacienda is the only place in world that we visit just to be at the hotel. The environment that exists here is just so perfect for us that overall we spend the vast majority of our time just sitting around and taking it all in. You may feel the same way too. Many of the guests we encounter have stayed multiple times. We all know a good thing when we find it.

Another Perfect Stay

April 28th, 2016

This was our 5th stay at the Hacienda, so that says all about our views on the perfect getaway.

The hacienda is a perfect oasis in Palm Springs. Accommodation is immaculate and staff are always discreet, friendly and very helpful. Thanks once more Steve and your gang. We stayed in one of the larger suites. It is spacious with a living room, bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom and large rear patio. A home from home. Since our last visit the gardens of the Hacienda have had a major makeover. We were staying at the rear which now looks much larger. The gardens now reflect the desert setting of Palm Springs but are still a lovely area to lap up the hot sun. Staying here you could almost not spend a penny more on food. Breakfast is of a continental nature but there is lots to eat. For lunch you have a selection of wraps sandwiches or salads. The owners, Jim and Maurice once again hosted a complimentary cheese and wine in the breeze way on the Saturday evening.

We are contemplating a return again this year in the hot summer.

The Hacienda is not like those other places on Warm Sands

April 20th, 2016

My partner and I LOVED our stay at the Hacienda. It is not fair to call the rooms “rooms”; they are truly apartments. A large living / dining area with a kitchen, bathroom and separate bedroom. The d├ęcor is very well put together. I am not necessarily a fan of the Spanish styling, but what do you expect when they call the place “The Hacienda”. The interiors were spotless. The kitchen even had dishes, pots and pans in them. The bathroom had thoughtful accessories including Q-tips and mouthwash. The remote controls for the TV’s were a bit of a pain in the you know what but only because we were not familiar with them. The owners and their staff are all great. They were very concerned we were more than satisfied with our suite and amenities. Although it is a clothing optional resort we chose to wear bathing suits. I think tan lines are more sexy than not, don’t you? I have already booked another stay at the Hacienda and will be back in a few weeks

Luxury in the sun!

March 30th, 2016

Many gay resorts can be disappointing – but not this one!

The welcome is great – and it just gets better. There are 2 groups of 5 rooms – each around a pool. Our room was amazing – we had number 9 (of 10) that was huge and came with a small outdoor patio (which, to be honest, we never used).

Importantly, each pool has 10 sun beds – so no need to worry about getting some sun (or shade). The breakfast is excellent – Continental style, but with chillers/thermos flasks to keep everything cold that should be cold (juices, yoghurts, milk etc), which is not always the case in many hotels.
Lunch is also included in the room rate – a choice of salads, sandwiches or wraps, which were plenty large enough and always freshly-made.

We did not bother with a car – but were easily able to walk to all local restaurants (averaging about 20 minutes) and the local shops (about 5 minutes).

The resort is kept immaculately clean – with friendly staff who are always willing to offer every assistance to make for a perfect stay.
It was also great to meet the 2 owners at a Friday evening drinks/nibbles “get-together”

Overall, we had a great 7 days – and didn’t really want to leave!

Classy, sophisticated and relaxing.

March 26th, 2016

My domestic partner and I stayed at the Hacienda at Warm Sands in Palm Springs in February 2016 for one week. We stayed in room nine for $512 USD per night, fees and taxes in. That may seem like a lot for a clothing optional gay men’s resort but the price includes daily breakfast and lunch which makes the price reasonable. Also, the price keeps the unsavoury types away.

Room nine was the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in, it was absolutely huge. The room included a kitchen, dining room, living room, one bedroom with king bed, fireplace, air conditioner and a rear patio. The room was clean, tidy and well furnished. The wi-fi was flawless.

The grounds were separated into two sections each with a pool and one section also had a hot tub and an outdoor fireplace. The section with the hot tub had a better view of the mountains. Both sections, however were beautifully landscaped, clean and well maintained. Generic lounge music played softly in the background throughout the day creating a relaxing, sophisticated ambience. I didn’t notice at first but after the fourth day, it became apparent to me the playlist repeated daily making some of the songs a bit tiring. This can obviously be remedied by increasing the content in the playlist.

The premises was conveniently within walking distance to the gay strip and downtown Palm Springs.

All the staff workers need to be commended for exceptional service. The staff were professional, friendly and always eager to help. The owners were a pleasure to meet.

The continental breakfast was always fresh, tasty and well presented. The several daily lunch choices listed on the menu were of similar good quality as the breakfast and delivered to one’s room personally by the staff.

The clientele was mostly classy, well-to-do professionals of mature age happily lounging in the nude with their soulmates.

Speaking about naked men, some cruising did occur but not enough to satisfy the partygoers. Speaking about partygoers, The Hacienda is a place where the birds sing louder than the music.

I highly recommend staying at The Hacienda at Warm Sands.

Excellent Palm Springs Destination

March 15th, 2016

This was my first visit to The Hacienda and I’ll definitely return. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable, the setting is great with a mountain view and landscaped grounds, and the social environment is a great balance between relaxing and fun. I like to walk and this location is great for getting to downtown on one side and residential neighborhoods in the other direction. I’m already planning my next visit.

The Perfect Setting!

March 15th, 2016

The Hacienda at Warm Sands in Palm Springs is clearly the best clothing optional, lifestyle resort that I have ever had the pleasure to visit. My partner and I stayed at the Hacienda for one week from February 18 to February 25, 2016. We reserved a deluxe grand suite. We were very very pleased.

Upon our arrival, in our rental car (lots of available parking), we were met by Robert at the front door. Robert was personable, kind and very friendly. He was very engaging and extremely helpful. He gave us a tour of the property and then showed us to our lovely suite.

I shall begin my review with the grounds. They are impeccable. It is evident that a very highly skilled and professional team of gardeners work for the Hacienda. The place exudes pride of ownership. The little waterfalls in the courtyard by the second pool, the palm trees, flowers, the pathways….. Everything was perfect! It was a joy to walk around and look at the various plants and watch the hummingbirds!

There are two pools on the property; one slightly deeper than the other. Both were equally lovely to lounge in. Around the pools there were numerous loungers. I must comment here about the loungers because the cushions were really, really thick and luxurious. They were exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Extra large bath towels emblazoned with the Hacienda logo were placed on each of the loungers and very quickly replaced when used. The hot tub and out door fireplace are so inviting at night time.

As mentioned we stayed in in deluxe grand suite. We stayed in room number nine in the back area. I cannot express how lovely and clean this room was. We had a fully functional kitchen with two refrigerators, dining room, a gas fireplace that was fully operational, a very large living room quite comfortably furnished, a beautiful bedroom with a very comfortable king size bed and a private backyard. The private backyard was very big and also comfortably furnished. I could easily imagine little cocktail party back there with new friends!

As mentioned, the kitchen was very well-stocked. Cutlery, table were, glasses, even a blender for your blended drinks. As well there was a popcorn machine with popcorn included and various other small kitchen appliances one would require. It would be very easy to simply move in and stay for an extended period of time.

A special mention to the staff; they are exceptional. Beginning with the cleaning staff, they were professionally dressed and behaved in a quiet and professional manner that was unobtrusive and very what much welcomed. The rooms are cleaned each day with the precision you would expect in a luxurious five star resort. The attention they paid to small details was amazing. (A special thank you to Luis who was our primary cleaner during our stay!). As well, I must extend kudos to Steve, the manager. I cannot tell you how much of a delight that man is and how well he represents the Hacienda. He is engaging, witty, smart, and very proud of Palm Springs. He is equally proud of his work at the Hacienda and he very much should be. Steve helped make our stay that much better.

By far, the continental breakfast on offer at the Hacienda at Warm Sands is the best breakfast of its type. (Anywhere!). Fresh croissants, chocolate croissants, danishes, fruit, boiled eggs, cereals, tea, coffee, orange juice, .old cuts, cheese, and bagels. It was all very elegantly displayed in the breakfast room. Everyone enjoyed the selection and no one was left disappointed. There was more than enough for everyone.

Lunch was a delight, pure and simple. Every evening we had a menu from which we chose a selection of sandwiches or wraps or large plated salads with sides. As well, drinks like lemonade, coffee, tea, water etc. Lunch was delivered around 1230 each day. It was delivered directly to your table where you happen to be sitting, or in your room if you happen to be there, or by the pool if you happen to be relaxing there as well. A little table setting is prepared for you with silverware, glasses etc as your plate of lunch was delivered. Lunch is provided by an outsourced catering company. They do a very very fine job of providing a tasty healthy lunch.

We were particularly enamored with the two owners of this lovely resort, Jim and Maurice. We were invited, as were all of the guests, to their weekly cocktail party that was held in the breakfast room at the resort. Red and white wine, with cheese and crackers, fruit and chocolates were on hand for the cocktail party. It was lovely. The best part was an opportunity to meet Maurice and Jim personally and listen to their stories and meet other guests. It was like being at a party with old friends.

The clientele of the Hacienda present as slightly more sophisticated. There was an element of refinement that was quite welcome. But by no means was it stuffy. Conversations easily flowed between guests, yet people generally migrated to their personal spaces and enjoyed reading or listening to their iPods and were not obtrusive.

It is easy to enjoy the natural splendor and the positive vibe of Palm Springs. Staying at the Hacienda however, makes the experience just that much better. It may be slightly more expensive but you definitely get what you pay for! I am so happy to endorse the Hacienda as the number one place for gay men to stay in Palm Springs.

A fantastic week in Palm Springs

February 20th, 2016

This wasn’t our first stay at the Hacienda, but it was the usual relaxing vacation it has been every time. Great suites, beautiful pools, delicious lunches and breakfasts, and it’s always great to see the same helpful staff on every visit. We have stayed at other similar resorts on Warm Sands, but none are as well maintained with as nice amenities as the Hacienda. We pay a little more to stay here, and it is worth it.
